Everytime I say I'm gonna come back and try harder, I'm MIA for another two years or so. Last post was Feb 2014. gagaga. Anyways, here's me trying to get back into devianart agggaaain!! I hope this time I fare better.
last post was 2009... errrks. It's been a long long long while.

So much has happened. Stopped doing comics for a while now. Just doing illustrations for companies. Got married, Moved, have a baby girl. Life just got jacked up 1000 miles an hour.

Will try and get back into this. Keen not to make this my last post either. hah.

Thanks to everyone to have posted, replied and I'm sorry my replies have been lack luster.

Here's to a greater glorious 2014...
have been trying to work on 'sketch of the day' for the past few weeks. i've always tried but failed. i was determined this time. but in the end, it lasted 4 days. then i couldn't get to a scanner or was inundated with deadlines and work. i've always admired mike wieringo and other artists for doing it. don't know how they did it, but for me, it was too much pressure with looming deadlines always threatening. so i've carried on doing sketches. at least averaging 1 in 3 days. sometimes i have surprised myself with 3 or 4 in a day. so i guess in the end, as long as i keep it fairly consistent, i won't kill myself over it. it'd be nice, of course, if i could.

anyways, so i'm about to do a massive upload of sketches. as i haven't had the chance upload in the last few weeks. i read all comments altho don't get the chance to reply to all of em. so thanks heaps for all the comments and apologies in advance if i don't reply to them. and keep 'em coming. always love to hear ur opinions on what works and what doesn't.

until next.

hey everyone, apologies. been completely flat out for ages. i guess that's a good thing from a certain point of view as it means more stuff i can upload here in the gallery.

wanted to say a big huge thanks to all that responded to my marker madness in my previous journal entry. sorry i couldn't get to all of the sketches, as work and deadlines just completely dominated after NYCC and had to put a complete hiatus to the sketches. but i've still got it on my list and one day, hopefully, i will finish that up. stay tuned.

those that are at SDCC, see you there in about a week and half time. can't wait. i won't have a table, but i'll have my industry pass and will be walking around. if u see a bald asian dude carrying a big ass red crumpler bag, stop the person and say hi. it's probably me!!!

in the meantime, hope u enjoy all the new stuff i'm about to upload.

***** update: NOT SO GREEN LIT AFTER ALL ***** 07.11.08
sorry everyone. looks like the powers that be have decided to not show the pinup that i uploaded a few days ago, after all. so i've had to pull the image off. hopefully i'll get the green light to it a bit later and will be able to show the pinup again. sorry for any inconvenienced caused. thanks for all the comments posted btw. sorry i didn't get a chance to response to it before the deviation got pulled but i did manage to read all the comments. so thanks again for all the great comments. more updates soon. :)

***** update: APOLOGIES AND TWITTER ***** 03.11.08
hi everyone, i think i'll keep this journal entry up for a while longer cause there has been so many great suggestions for the MARKER MADNESS, it would seem a shame if i update the journal and all the comments get stored in the archive somewhere. and since NYCC is coming up again soon, as soon as i have a moment to spare, i will be back on MARKER MADNESS to churn out as many suggestions as possible. please keep 'em coming if u have any more ideas. :)

anyways, quick apologies for the lackness of updates. i've been completely flat out jumping from one deadline to the next without a moments breath and wow, 5 months have passed since. so sorry about that. the good news is because of my hiatus for the last 5 months, i've accumulated a truck load of artworks that i will try and upload for ur weekly viewing pleasure. that's the aim anyways.

and lastly, thanks to recommendations from mr. templesmith, i am now on twitter. so for anyone that's interested, please click twitter.com/andie_t

**** update: THANKS EVERYONE!

back from the cons. had a brilliant time. been to another one in bristol since coming back from NY. thanks heaps for all the suggestions. i will def be goin thru em' slowly but surely. just trying to juggle all that inbetween my crazy hecticness of deadlines. will update everyone when i have more sketches to show. in the meantime, i got a couple of colour commissions scanned back to me since the cons so i'll be uploading them here. back soon, talk soon! :)

*** update: MARKER MADNESS ON HOLD

back to work unfortunately for me and prepping for NY comic con next weekend. so any MARKER MADNESS suggestions will resume after the con. but please continue to send suggestions in as i won't be stopping until after the convention season is over which is around october 2008! :D

so, if anyone's been watching my gallery, i've been updating about a marker madness sketch a day. currently i've got a list of characters i wanna do but maybe u guys can offer some suggestion on what u'd like to see me sketch up first. i'm basically doing these sketches in preparation to sell at the cons. i'm hoping it saves some time, if a particular sketch is already drawn, they can simply pick it up instead of waiting for me to sketch it out at the shows.

also feel free to suggest some characters on the list i haven't got but it has to be popular enough so that fans will like it enough to consider buying. :)

i've also gotta throw in some grayscale in the mix just to mix it up a bit. so please suggest ur character, and then whether u wanna see it in colour or grayscale.

FROM DC
powergirl (altho already sketched, i am so unhappy with it, i'm considering redoing it, maybe in grayscale)
huntress
batgirl (barbara gordon)
catwoman
black canary
supergirl
superman
batman

FROM MARVEL
wolverine
ironman (cause the movie's about to hit)

OTHERS
snakeeyes (cause the movie's about to hit)
kasumi from DOA
major motoko kusanagi from ghost in the shell
cloud from final fantasy VII
street fighter (any suggestions of which character)
star wars (any suggestions of which character)
ren sonja
hellboy (cause the movie's about to hit)
witchblade
tomb raider

so whoever hits me first, i will draw next. and then the next, etc, etc. until i'm busy again with deadlines or i'm out of time. :)

thanks everyone.

*edit*

thanks heaps everyone for participating in this little marker madness of mine!

but just heard back from my editor. so it looks like its back to work for me to meet deadlines. but hopefully i'll try for one piece of sketch a day before i start work everyday. hopefully! finger's crossed.

so keep the suggestions coming as i got a few more cons to attend for the rest of the year. convention season doens't finish til october for me so i may still get to reach ur suggested character! YAH!

as always been working full hog on spidey uk! always love the opportunity to stretch out good ol' spidey's anatomy. so always grateful that the editor still likes my work enough to offer me more gigs!!

also, spidey uk and some of my work got featured in one of newsarama's news article in december. so check this out if you get the chance. ed hammond, editor of spidey uk on newsarama. forum.newsarama.com/showthread…

anyways, thanks heaps for the all the compliments and positive replies, will try and answer some specific questions asked. i DO read all the comments. so thanks heaps again for ur patience! :D

will be updating deviant with some new work soon. in the meantime, i'm very happy to announce my latest international publication in a while!! my first ever work for DC comics. a small one shot for batman strikes. i also got to do the cover for this book.

so please feel free to head out to ur local comic store and pre order a few thousand copies. heh. it's in the december previews magazine on page 93. the title is 'batman strikes' #42. DIAMOND order # DEC070261

attached on the left of the deviantID column is the ad from the previews magazine. :)

thanks everyone.
thanks eveyone for coming to the show and getting a sketch from me. thanks heaps for setting me new challenges every show. u'll be glad to know that i don't like to draw the same poses twice on a character. so as much as i can, ur sketch is a unique one! YAY!

i normally get a photo of the sketch just for my folio but my camera wasn't working properly the whole weekend. so if u're reading this and if i managed to get a sketch done for u, i would be grateful if u could please possibly scan and send it to my email. a thousand thanks!! :D

apologies for all those that i missed out! i know i did as i saw some waiting, and then vanished a minute later. hopefully i'll catch u at the next show and remember, get in early.

thanks heaps for all those that were very patient with me and waited and waited, went away, came back, waited and waited. truly appreciate it. i hope u guys got the sketches u wanted.

thanks heaps to stuart and this partners in crime for organising another fantastic event!

as many of you would have heard by now, mike wieringo passed away at age 44 on sunday 12 august 2007. no doubt, like everyone, it came as a big huge shock when i received the news on monday night.

i met mike only once in heroes con back in 2000. along with sanford greene, bob layton, todd dezago and many others, mike was one of the artists and creators that kick started my drive to pursue a career in comics. after looking at my work he encouraged me to try even tho at that point, i lived on the other side of the world back in australia. i was a designer back then, and i would never have dreamed of doing comics due to logistic reasons. but on that day, mike and the other creators introduced me to the possibilities via the world wide web.

so seven years later, i now work full time in comics drawing two of comics beloved characters, spiderman and batman, and have also dabled with other famous icons, like he-man, tmnt, bloodrayne to name a few.

i've always collected mike's stuff without conciously knowing it. the first time, i ever took notice of knowing the name of 'ringo' was through tellos. i found his work completely awe inspiring and flawless. i thought that he was a new artist coming into the scene and blowing everyone away. then one day, as i was sifting thru old comics, i discovered i had bought issues of the flash and spiderman that mike had done and i was floored. just to note, i pick comics up base on the art first and foremost.

now i don't know mike personally and i doubt he would have remembered me as i probably would have been one of many artists he would have encouraged to get into comics that day.

but i've always said to myself that one day, after accumulating enough work in my portfolio, to see mike again at a con and personally thank him. i have already managed to thank sanford many times as after the 2000 con, we have kept in contact and caught up a couple of times.

just recently, i discovered an art forum named drawingboard.org. i posted some new spidey pages there and lo and behold, mike replied with some more encouraging words. selfishly, i'll always regret just not pm-ing him that day to say, 'thanks, u're one of the guys that started this. look what u've done. :) '

so mike, u'll always be remembered and forever missed. thanks heaps for the inspirational work and the kick start.

back from another great convention! thanks to the organisers, mike and dave and to panini and my editor, ed for having me there. although there were some slight complications in terms of signing space but it all got sorted out in the end. but apologies for those who couldn't find me on saturday and sunday.

i didn't get to sit down on saturday until about 2.30pm and on sunday i was unfortunately moved to another table for the remainder of the show. but still, did lots of sketches, unveiled my new sketchbook and A3 pinups, so all in all, a brilliant weekend. thanks to all the usual suspects i got to hang out, drink and be merry with. apologies to all those that i didn't get to hang out with all that much! here's to more bristol in 2008!

THANKS ALL! .::

firstly, wanted to say a quick thanks and appreciation to all the great comments i've received thus far. i'm trying to go thru and reply to each and every comment but work is constantly pulling me away. thanks heaps for ur patience and apologies in advance. know that i DO read every comment on this board.

PHWOAR!! SKETCHBOOK UNLEASHED .::

yes! i can finally announce this. there is a new sketchbook unveiling at bristol expo and for the convention season of 2007. i've decided to tackle this sketchbook differently from the BWAAH! sketchbook of 2006 whereby...well, u'll just have to pick one up to see. but i'm sure u can guess once u take a peek at the samples in my featured deviation. all new sketches. never before seen art, well aside from the ones shown on the left, obviously, sketched solely for the purpose of this sketchbook with 4 coloured interior pages. have a taste on the left and hopefully it'll peak your interest. only 100 copies printed. so come down early if u wanna pick up one.

i've tried to put an image in my journal but don't have the know how. help anyone? anyways, hence the referal to my featured deviation. :)

NEXT SKETCHBOOK .::

i'm now taking in suggestions on what u'd like to see in my next sketchbook. so hit me here or email me for any suggestions. no guarantees it will be in the final print but it could be. btw no self created characters or nudity suggestions. sorry. avoid obviously the ones that are already in PHWOAR!! 2007 sketchbook such as classic spiderman, superman, supergirl, blackcat, spiderwoman, zatanna, wonder woman, gambit, elektra, flash, powergirl, black canary, batman, white queen, wolverine, psylocke, bloodrayne, snake eyes, he-man, tmnt, tomb raider, D.O.A kasumi, ryu and cloud.

CONVENTION SCHEDULE MAY 2007 .::

and finally, quick reminder of my convention schedule this coming may.

sorry i haven't been around lately. everyone. it's been a bit of a mix start to the year so it's been a bit chaotic. my grandma passed away at the age of 89 in january so i've been a bit out of it. she's lead a great life and i'm happy she's at peace.

working, juggling, etc. the great news is that i'm finally underway as the regular artist for spectacular spiderman UK. but then a surprise deadline came into the scene with an issue of TMNT i commited to last year. so my spidey editor was kind enough to allow me a couple of issues off to meet this commitment. so, right now, i'm currently working on a 28 page issue of tales of TMNT and once i've finished that, i'll be back on spidey UK full swing.

anyways, while i was taking a lunch break, i roughed out a piece a wheel of time i've been wanting to work on for ages. i don't know when i'll be able to finish up the piece so i thought i'd post up the rough for u to enjoy in the meantime. i know a few of u have been waiting for this piece. so to all the WOT fans, here's ta'veren, rand, mat and perrin.

i'm really behind on all the messages left for me recently. thanks heaps for all the great comments and most definitely appreciative of ur patience. i don't know when i'll be able to answer all messgaes, but i will be going thru them slowly whenever i can. reading thru all of them. thanks again.

birmingham was great. unique little venue but packed nonetheless. i was busy drawing both days non stop. thanks again to all those that stopped by to say hello, picked up commissions and sketch books. thanks to the usual suspects, michael, paul, winston, kevin, u know who u all are. great to finally meet so many faces that i've only talked to, know of or meet via email. james, jim, john, garry, rufus, yishan. great to catch up again even though it was rather brief, michael(and all the way from NY too), staz, andrew, lorenzo, daley, david, harry, rich, dan, tony and all u talented folks out there. thanks to the organisers for offering a fantastic spot to meet the folks out there. i'll be putting up sketches soon, most likely after new years, as i'm back running, catching up on deadlines, etc. i missed out on snapping some sketches, so if u got a sketch from me, and if u got some spare time, please send me a scan of the sketches. for all those lucky ones that got a sketch on sunday, i hope u liked the extra time i took to finish those pieces off since i needed to concentrate twice as hard being a bit plastered the night before, but i think my best work came out of it. hehe.

and so merry christmas and may u have a fantastic new years! see u in 2007. catch my christmas card for 2006 on the left! :D

also, a floorplan for the show is finally up and available to view. click the link below to view where i'll be. i'll be at the artist's alley, in one of the red tables of A, B, or C.
